The Hoima Orphanage Project

A Complete Care Orphanage

The Hoima orphanage project consists of several stages, some of which are already completed. You can read below about each phase and its progress as well as the breakdown of costs associated with the project. All our foundation’s members are volunteers, so 98% of your donation goes directly to the project.

The idea behind the orphanage is to not only provide complete care for all the children, including essential needs and primary education, but to supplement operations with agriculture and trade so that the orphanage is completely self-sustaining.

Phase 1: Planning

Status: COMPLETE

The planning phase consists of the initial steps of forming the foundation, making and organizing a plan for the orphanage, developing a website and commissioning an architectural design.

Phase 2: Materials

Status: In Progress

The materials phase consists of acquiring the land the orphanage will be built upon and all necessary building materials. Solar panels will provide electric power, and agricultural land will provide food and excess for trade to make the orphanage self-sustaining.

Phase 3: Construction

Status: Upcoming

The construction phase consists of the building of the orphanage itself, including drilling a well for fresh water and installing solar panels for electricity. Agricultural planting is done in this phase as well.

Phase 4: Staffing

Status: Upcoming

The staffing phase consists of hiring staff for the orphanage, acquiring livestock for the farms, and finding the first group of roughly 25 orphans ages 6-9.
